Steam rose from the earth, rivers cut through wide valleys, and wildlife moved wherever it pleased. Bison stopped traffic, geysers erupted without warning, and every turn reminded us that here, nature still makes the rules. We came expecting the famous landmarks, but what stayed with us were the moments in between — the silence, the scale, the unpredictability, and the feeling that we were only visitors passing through something much older than us.
